Hope you all have a great Super Bowl Sunday! We are having a party here for all our neighborhood friends. Mainly cause we are supposed to get up to a foot of snow 2morrow. I sure hope so. Except the fact that my new hubby has to go into work anytime it snows. He works at a hospital for bad kids. And they have to clear all the walkways and sidewalks.
Take Care,
Melissa

Hey everyone-

Gosh Robin-I'm really tired today and your post had me in tears...How do you deal with all this emotional trauma at work AND dealing with all the issues with Chase? You'er one tough cookie and I admire you! I'm so glad it worked out for that girl getting a place to stay..and good for youfor telling the principal off..I started crying when I got to the point in your post where you said "So now, I am not feeling as if things are all so hopeless and lost, I just remembered.... I can do this! I am stronger then I thought! It is hard, it is a uphill struggle, but we can win, Chase will win. All of his needs will be met because we will never stop fighting for him!" You and Dave are such great parents..Chase is blessed!

anyways- I had "a moment" there--thinking about before Kaylee was born-how I never imagined I'd have to work so hard to make sure my child was getting what she deserved. (and I have it pretty easy-very pro-inclusion school) Then I thought of all the people I know (my neighbors and friends..etc) who will NEVER have to work hard--or take their child to so many professional appointments (speech/hearing/eyes/ears/tutoring.etc..) or pay as much for all of that..or learn to argue the law to the professionals that SHOULD ALREADY KNOW IT!..UGH!

anyways..my moment passed but I said a prayer for God to give you strength and wisdom and favor with the school/teachers/doctors etc. hugs to you girl..

Steff--Thanks so much for the compliments...the girls are growing up and Sam is totally in love with them. He REALLY falls to pieces for Emma and I just keep telling him--'you can't marry her Sam--she's your sister..' can't wait to finally meet you Steff!

Kaylee was recognized at school in an assembly for Character. She was selected to sign THe Great Book at school and was called forward with several of her classmates to be appluaded and shake the principals hand. It's a Great Book of Character. You get recognized for responsibility, respect, integrity, kindness, compassion, patriotism...etc..She was recognized for responsibility. I got some video--so those of you going to Vegas can see it!

gotta run get the girls to a party..

HI EVERYONE!!!!

Guess who went out last night???? You guessed it me!!! Whatta nice night. My mom took both kids afterschool to spend the night.Me my gf and her hubby went to dinner and had mexican food and of course MARGARITAS!!! I had 2 of em and was pretty darned happy. Then my best pal, since we were 6, and I laughed so hard cause we were done by 7 and were at her house playing LMAO Play station 2 for a couple of hours.Sad eh???We both had the best time just being FREE of kids..Wonder how my ma is feeling this morning??? Hope Liv was good.

You guys as frustrating as my girl is right now(in terms of whatever I say she says and does the opposite and always at a trying moment) gotta tell ya she can write her name sooo well now.I'm telling you I am so PROUD of her.I'm gonna scan it so you all can see.

I have started a new plan with Liv I will tell you how it goes. Yesterday I was telling her teacher about my frustration with her.9she refused to do her HW the night before and after trying different thigs I just gave up and wrote her teacher a note). So afterschool yesterday her teach called us into her room I explained to her some really crazy behaviors Liv has had the last month.WELL I made last night for Olivia something herteacher had suggested.I made a 8X10 paper with a smiley face on it.It says I AM WORKING FOR!!!! then I velcroed a stip on that paper. Then I cut up pictures of books, barney,Liv playing outside, her tea party set her markers etc. Her teacher suggested I do this for HW at first and see if this works. So Liv picks out the picture she is working for and if she does what is asked she gets it.You know what I love about her sp ed teacher she is so thoughtful and ANYTHING i am having probs with at home she wants to help...NOW not later..God that woman is amazing. We are so blessed. She has taught Olivia so much!!!

Jeff gets back soon.PHEW!!!! I am tired last night I only got a few hours sleep cause man I want to get up go grocery shopping in peace and perhaps hit a store or 2 for some new BIGGER clothes as I have been eating so much lately.BOREDOM...UGGGG...Remember Tues is the show "the Guardian featuring a friend of mines son.The story centers around ds and I am EXCITED to see how he does...Tried to talk them in to coming to vegas but alas probably not.Ya never know though...

CINDY I can't get over how Kaylee has grown up!!!!And EMMA drop dead gorgeous.I will never show Kyle that pic!!!LOL... SAM man that was gonna be Olivias name had she been male...That picture and the EYES!!! WOW he is something else...

ROBIN sorry bout that girl but glad she found an apt.PERFECT TIMING MAY I ADD!!!! How's Zack too? Haven't heard much about him lately!!!! Services here in cali are getting uggg. Our schools thanks to our new gov...AHHHNOLD....are getting cut VALUABLE services...Basically what he did is return everyones new high car tax this year from the previous year so that he could get the simple minded folks $$$ back. SO since that happened we lost tremendous revenue and the schools extra programs that are VERY VERY valuable are CUT GONE POOF!!!! He doesn't care his kids go to private school actually my old school.I am very frustrated cause it doesn't effect my kids but it affects kids that desperately need stuff like afterschool programs ,free extra help reading programs, etc etc...Are ya frozen solid yet???I always go thru the paper in the morning and see what everyone on unos temps are and girl STAY INSIDE!!!

Jackie sorry Justin is sick. That bites. Liv started to sound real bad by weeks end. That wheeze man...Hope he is feeling much better and can breathe easy,,, Well bye for now must git.

Ummmmmm Robin, Chuck and Dave have it all planned out but I sent you an email with the real plans lol, seems their plan involves a room with a jacuzzi and smuggling ice fishing equipment along on the trip.
Now as for Ms. Laura and Ms. Cathy ENOUGH wooooooooshing, poor Justin hasn't been in school for a week in a half now, that wind is doing a number on him, poor kid goes out the door and runs back into the house gasping to catch his breath.
Hugs and Prayers headed out to everyone, stay warm or at least try too:)

Hello unoland...
---
Shelley, I'll keep my fingers crossed courtney feels better soon so she can still do special olympics and win her medal!
---
Maria...huggers to you, but wow Conneticut sounds so far away and didnt you say the cost of living is high? Why cant we have a high need for plumbers here in Mihigan?
---
BTW Shelley...when are you going to join us all for a summer get together so we get to meet Courtney? Her and Susan's Emily could become fast friends and Chase would be in heaven with TWO hot babes to hang out with :-)
---
Laura.... bring on the snow, I am out of paid snow days but who cares..LOLOL!(Excuse me though, could you make the temp a bit higher then the -14 we had today?
---
Barb, I cant wait to see pics of the snow bunny outside!!!!
---
Okay you guys, life has been so hard lately...here is a little update and the news is..things are now going well, ...hmm, well, better then I thought they would or could... I have a stuent who I found out was living in a drug house so we had to move her out a week ago today at night in a bad bad part of town. No place to go with no family, she ended up in a rescue shelter, three days of that and ended up kicked out not following rules (well surprise, she has a disability no wonder she cant)so she says she will kill herself, off she goes to a crisis residnetial temporary facility, three days and she is booted again, grrrrr, no place left, all other shelters are full, home she comes with me, in tears, I am thinking is there no good things in life for this girl? DH was not real keen because of her history but he knows she cant NOT stay. So we go to work/school today , her and I, both of us full of worry, and her workers calls and says she has to go into a group home, nothing left to do, we cry, it is not what is right for her, she is so independent. The worker comes to get her and takes her to look at several and guess what? First one.... they JUST got an opening in one of their supported living apartments attached to the group home, and she gets to try in for the weekend and if she likes it, she can have it!!!!!!! It has a roomate for her already living there, they would split costs and she would have her freedom and could pretty much come and go within reason and even has a support staff to help them with learning things like cleaning, cooking, etc. Is that not a MIRACLE???? Please please please pray it works for her!!!(and that I get no crisis phone calls ok????
Second...(but far from last) we have had terrible times with the school lately, including a vicious principle who sent me a terrible email, speaking rude and nasty to us. I ususally have to stop and think beore I send anything out to them so I know my hotheaded ways (yes, I know you are surprised to hear that, LOL) didnt get in the way of proper judgement. Anyways, I didnt stop to even think..I just pelted off a email in response, telling her off and how I felt about her email and her inappropriate comments and insults and advising her she was not to EVER attend another team meeting or IEP with regards to my son. Guess what? It must of been good beause this morning I opened my emails to find a wonderful letter of apology to Dave and I. So now, I am not feeling as if things are all so hopeless and lost, I just remembered.... I can do this! I am stronger then I thought! It is hard, it is a uphill struggle, but we can win, Chase will win. All of his needs will be met because we will never stop fighting for him!
Okay hugs to you all,
Laura have a great weekend, I am hoping to do the same if that Jello Jack ever gives me the weekend date so I can start working on a sitter, (hint hint Jackie)
Love, Robin

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say "See ya later!" We are headed to Traverse City for the weekend. (Just Road and I) We are going to stop at my parents on the way (- actually Robin and Jackie, you know Lewiston isn't on the way to TC, but ya know what I mean!) and spend some time with my Dad. He seems to have stabilized for the moment, some pretty good days, and some extremely bad ones. We're still taking it a day (maybe an hour!) at a time. It will be nice to get away for a couple of days - I have been consumed by this, and it has really taken over my life.
~
~
STEFF: Loved your idea about praising others for their good behavior to get Liv to cooperate (and then of course praising Liv when she follows suit). Ethan is a total stubborn stink-pot, and I'm sure that will turn out to be a valuable tactic. Thanks so much! I loved her sour face picture on the island, Rod cracked up.
~
~
So Robin, enough snow for ya yet? I'm almost hesitant to say this, but they are again predicting snow on Monday. And of course I am again EXCITED about it. (Weird aren't I? But predicatable!) BUT if it happens during the week you may get another day off, so I will do my snow dance REALLY HARD and try to get you enough snow for a day at home. LOL!
~

Has anyone heard from Janis? Just wondering, I'm worried about her and Cariana. Hugs to all those who need them and prayers for all. Laura

OMG Barb that must of been so cute seeing Alison all bundled up and playing in the snow, sounds like she had a great time.
I will post when we return from the olympics and let everyone know how Courtney does.
She hasn't been feeling very well. Turns out she has strep throat. There is so much strep and flu going around here. I work in a clinic and have swabbed so many throats this week. It is unbeleivable.
Well we didn't get much of that snow we was suppose to get. Just got a little dusting. Still so cold, at least not below zero today, but windy. I will be so glad to see spring.
Well have to go get Courtney into bed. Night all.

Hi again... AWWW DEBI are you serious? That'd burn my biscuits real good. Its easier to be involved in their school when they are younger doncha think? Now who wrote this FABULOUSLY "SPIFFY" one-liner? Doesn't mr. G have more than 1 teacher? I have a ??? for you do you get the IEP goal in his report card and if he has achieved em or not? or where he is at then. Liv only gets graded in her sp ed class so the teach always puts in the sheet from the IEP with goals and she writes if she got it yet or where she is at.That might be something you can give to the teacher. I'll tell ya the page of the iEP she attaches to the report card when I find out if they are the same all over the country.

ALRIGHTY you guys... Heres something that seems to work well for me(most of the time) and Livs teachers (all of the time). Lets say Liv is sitting on the rug at school and the teacher tells all the kids to turn around and face the other direction. Now Liv COMPLETELY understands this direction but just likes to be her stubborn self same in the car with me.Instead of saying NO OLIVIA turn around like the other kids or me YELLING at her to keep her seatbelt on... I will or they will say...WELL CLASS THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for turning around like I asked. What attentive kids you are!!!!.Sure enuf Liv can't turn around fast enuf..LOL Today after hearing the teacher say how well this strategy worked for her we were in the car driving. Liv once again took herseatbelt off. SO I said KYLE thanks so much for being such a good kid and keeping your seatbelt on so you are safe.SURE ENUF Liv heard that and BLAM seatbelt was on in a split second and I gave her lotsa compliments too.FUNNY KID...TRY that and see if it works for you....Just curious to know if it works for any of you with the ole stubbornitis kids...LOL Steff

ROBIN: I'm SOOO glad to hear that my "snow dance" got you a couple of much-needed days at home, LOL! Now I've learned the secret to keeping you happy - can't be just a little snow, has to be a LOT! You have to admit, it's BEAUTIFUL! We got slammed here too, the kids had the day off both yesterday and today. The snow is so deep that my poor dog doesn't want to go outside to to his "business", cuz the snow is up past his belly! LOL!
~
~
BARB: I had to LOL about Alison dressed up to go outside to play, especially when you compared it to A Christmas Story. The moment I was done getting Victoria ready to go out to play today (it was balmy 24 degrees!) she informed me she had to go to the bathroom. This took place immediately after seeing herself in the mirror and declaring that she looked like a pink marshmallow that had exploded. LMAO! Hope you post those pictures! I may try, as soon as I figure out this new digital camera I got for Christmas. Probably should figure out the scanner I got for Christmas LAST year first, LOL!

DEBU: I have no constructive comment to make about Gabe's school, but I have to say that YOU have the patience of a SAINT! He is a fortunate guy! I could just see you muttering about the house, though. The mental picture cracked me up!

I have to say sounds like you have an awesome education program for Liv ; I could only dream of such a program for Gabe at that age or any age for that matter. I just got his semester report which consisted of ONE sentence that is it?? His whole ed. program to date this year in ONE sentence? causing dark mutterings at this house. Can everyone say compensatory ed to my district , it 's about the only thing that will cause an eye or two to snap open grrrrrr and brrrrrrr

HI!!!!

WOW are you all FROZEN SOLID YET??? Man oh man I was watching the news last night and God Bless you all.Sheeshkabobs...

Hmmm just got back from our weekly meeting in Olivias kinder. The st ot inclusion facilitator all 3 kindy teachers and her aide and sp ed teacher all meet during their short recess break to strategize with the kindy teachers regarding any concerns they may have. It is unbelieveable how amazing this group of people are.For example we have been working on Olivia sitting in on the carpet with the kids. See there is one BIG rug and a small rug about 10 inches away from the big one. WELL Liv tended to isolate herself by sitting on the sdmall rug. WELL her aide took the small rug out of the room and LOL "hid" it.Liv now sits with the rest of the gang now.One of her kindy teachers said Monday that she also took the rug out again(the cleaning guys must've put it back where it usually is) Olivia not only SAT nicely with all the kids but participated with them doing her words. The kids would go one at a time to the chart and pick out the word beginning or the word ending to make a word.Liv did it just like the rest of em beautifully. ALSO Livs st and sp ed teacher all come in seperately once a week and teach the kindergarten students a lesson for about 15-20 minutes while the kindy teachers observe triggers in good and bad beh.Hows that for a great school.Gotta love it.
Monday the child goes to her first(cept 4 right after she was born) cardiology appt. After that she hasta do MORE blood for the endo and we should be starting her on meds for her thyroid soon. So all is well. Hope to get in here more often but its tough these days... HUGS to you all and BRRRRRRlight your fireplace I am getting the goosebumps just seeing the cold images on TV...Steff

Hi all!
Susan: Hope you're enjoying the snow! I'll be happy to send you some more, heaven knows we've got way more than enough!!!
Shelly: After reading about your temperatures, I am feeling VERY warm!!! YIKES!!! I can remember going skiing at Wildcat Mountain years ago and the temperature being 15 below zero at the top. The lift operator told us that it was 75 below at the top of Mt Washington which was just across the road! I guess I'll take the relative warm temperatures of Buffalo anyday - coldest so far this winter was 10 below zero!!! Hope Courtney feels better so she can enjoy her snowshoeing event. Let us know how she does, OK?
It was finally warm enough here to take Alison outside to play in the snow for the first time! She did not know what to make of it coming down on her little face - just sat there blinking and laughing! She was SOOO cute! She looked just like the kid in that movie "A Christmas Story" when he couldn't move because his Mom had so many layers of clothes on him! I'll have to post a picture as soon as I get them back from being developed (lazy me still hasn't figured out the digital camera!).
Well, hope everyone has a good one!

I guess the snow is coming our way. It is suppose to start tonight and go into tomorrow. They say we are not suppose to get as much as the southern part of the state (New Hampshire) though. At least if it is snowing it is a little warmer. It has been so cold here, 32 below yesterday morning.
Courtney has another cold. She has a sore throat, sneezing and her poor nose is like a stream. Special olympics is next week so hopefully she will be better by then. She is going to be snow shoeing. She has such a good time. To see the pride in her face when she crosses the finish line, it's awsome.
Hope everyone stays well during this cold and flu season.

We recently had a baby boy placed in our home. He has a hole in his heart and coloboma. I don't understand what happens with coloboma but a pediatrician told us recently that often there are other problems with it. He is doing VERY well and we all love this little guy.
What worries me is coming up with the money to adopt the little fellow. Turns out the agency wanted more money than we had anticipated plus some other major costs. So I'm on keen.com trying to raise money so we can keep this little guy in our home. He is the best thing that has happened to our family. I tried to apply for a loan today for the $10,000 we are going to need, but was turned down. :( I truly need a miracle!

Vegas is a GO...finally...so if anyone wants to join us...go to Summer Get Togethers on the Bulletin Board...its a major thread....the trip is set for Feb 19 and will be total fun. Also there are discussions there about get togethers in the summer in different parts of the country. I am glad we are looking at Dallas since its closer for a lot of us than where the others have been taking place...maybe we also need one closer to California..or the West Coast. I know I am looking foreward to Vegas to finally be able to put some faces with names.

Chase (while I was on the phone with Pat, John's mom) ran outside once AGAIN in his pants and tshirt..no shoes, no coat and would NOT come back in. Does any one else have a monster that doesnt seem to react to the cold as they should? Drives me crazy, I know, I know, not a far ways to go!!!! LOL!
CC....I would LOVE to join you on the behaviors topic, can you just take lots and lots of notes as it is just a tad far to travel and I cant afford to miss any work right now as Dave is STILL laid off! (And President Bush wants to enable people to come imigrate here when we cant keep jobs at home first? grrrrrrr)Never mind, I dont mean to cause a hot topic, just venting, Dave is a journey man plumber/pipefitter in a union and there is no work any where!!!!! How are people suspose to live????
We are in the process of taking Chase off the medication he is on to once again try something new, sighhhhh, and i am reading 1-2-3 Magic right now hoping for it to help even a bit, not getting my hopes too high however as he seems to be the one in a million who reacts unfavorably to anything!
So, how is everyone? Are you all as freezing and cold as Laura Snowbird and I are?
We are hoping to be able to meet Jackie and Chuck in Frankenmuth next month for their anniversary and I am daring to hope for an overnight stay...hmmm, a big wish I know but hey, if i start planning right now???
Ok, time to make dinner, dont get excited..... it is just coney dogs as we had lunch at a new restuarant that serves Mexican food.
hugs and love to all,
Robin
PS... How is Livvie, Sonny and Carianna doing any one know?

Hey there Miss Snowbird.. we are missing you too!! I am so sorry that you and having such a struggle with your Dad.. every day I pray for peace and blessings to you, your Mom and Dad and all in your family.
I am so SORRY that Snowbird Jr. hasn't had much chance to try out his toddler sled I am sure he will love it if it ever warms up enough to use it. We don't even have any snow to make it pretty just those bitter temps UGH . Let's everybody start thinking SPRING

HI EVERYONE!!!!
~
~
I've actually started a posting twice and lost it over the last couple of weeks. I'm telling ya, I'm just not wired right lately! My Dad has been doing very poorly, and I spent the better part of a week up there recently - honestly I'll have nightmares about that for awhile. He is sooo bad, and he refuses to let hospice come in. His doctor referred him before Christmas, and I finally got him to let them come and at least TALK to us about their services, but he refused to sign on. It's so hard for my mom, because I'm hours away, and I feel like I should be there more often. My in-laws have been wonderful about taking my kids for four and five days at a time so I can go up and help my mom. They are truly angels! I could never have imagined how difficult this would be.
~
ROBIN: HEY! I LOVE this snow! Although I have to agree with you that the temperature leaves a lot to be desired. It's so cold that the kids have not been able to go out to play in it much. I have a brand new toddler toboggan for Ethan that I'm dying to try out, but I'm scared to take the munchkin out in this stuff. Right now the sun is shining brightly, but it's only six degrees! OUCH! (And Robin, I hate to even say this, but they are predicting more snow for us on Tuesday. And of course I'm doing my snow dance trying to make it happen!)
~
~
Annie S. - Sorry to hear about Sonny's difficulties. I'm so glad that the doctors have such diverse options for helping our kids these days, though. We are truly blessed. Hugs to you, and let us know what comes next.
~
DEBU: Just "HI!" and I miss ya!
~
OH CATHY: Where the heck have you been girl? What happened with Katie's MRI? Keep whooshing, please (Sorry Robin! Kiss Kiss!)
~
Hugs to everyone who needs them, and prayers that your lives are richly blessed every day. Take care!

ANNIE, I am thinking of you guys, HOW is SONNY? Prayers going out for you guys ;-D

Just wanted to share I went to a lecture this week on DS Health Care Guidelines for 13 years to Adulthood and I am happy to say not that much the Doc shared that I didn't already know. Although he went into much more details on things. He talked how many studies are being done these days on DS and many things change as our kids live much much longer then they did from many many years ago. He mentioned that he believes the oldest on record was one with DS that was 86. YIKES I would be surprised if I lived that long, LOL, Bless him or her, that he didn't say. He also mentioned that he felt that the number of males with DS that are sterile (sp?) is off and as the years and testing go on we will see different info on this, Hmmmm Tons more he shared, but its late, I will share with you all soon. Next month the talk is on behaviors Hmmmm ROBIN you want to join me girl ;-D LOL

Wishing you ALL a Wonderful Weekend.

CC ;-D

Ok friends...the VEGAS TRIP PLANS are in full swing. For those of you who have missed out on them...we are going Thursday Feb 19-Sunday Feb 22....come for any or all of that time. The full information is found on the Summer get together thread....there are several topics concerning Vegas there...on the longest thread just pull up the last page or two to get an idea of whats going on....but read the other threads as well which are much shorter. Its not too late to join us....the more in the rooms...the cheaper it gets....LOL.....and I guarantee it will be fun. Also notice that we are trying to get a get together this summer planned closer to home for some of us.....DALLAS....so post up there as well.

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been around in a while. My computer broke down a few days before Christmas and I finally got around to bringing it in last week and it was finally ready today. Patrick is doing well. He is getting a new set of tubes put in on the 27th and they're going to do a hearing test while he's under the anesthesia(sp?) They can't get a good reading on how he's hearing because he freaks out in the little room they do the test in. I do my unofficial hearing test with him and whisper to see if he can hear me and he always does so I'm not too concerned. He still loves his baby sister. When she's on the floor he wants to hold her and lay on his back with her on top of him. He doesn't quite understand that you need to be gentle with babies.

Happy birthday to anyone I missed and I hope everyone is healthy!

Mary L.

HI!!!

Carolyn give BIG BDAY hugs to John. 5 was the age Olivia REALLy DUG on Bdays and Christmas!!! The parent support grp. is a GREAT resource.. STRESS!!!! Whatta ya mean stress :O... LOL....

Olivia is out and home now. She can breathe again!!!Her asthma went ballistic and there was no getting round it at home so we spent 15 hours there breathing treatments every 2 hours and prednisone and zithro for her pneumonia.SO she is here with mama.:) When we came out of the er 15 hours later .They finally said well shes only wheezing a bit and it doesn't look like her sats are getting any better(she was like mid 80's to upper so we got to leave. The child would NOT sleep. We played drawing balloon toss with the glove balloons, read books, had her own spot the whole time so that was good but man its so confining. I go NUTS being confined in a small spot for so long. SO one of thenurses in the ER who knows her from when she was little and from Jeffs visits took her around the ER giving her EVERYTHING having squirt each other with the GIANT syringes. What we will do for humor.. LOLEVERY time the nurse passed our room Liv would say Come here PLEASE???She'd hold her hand and rub it and say... Won't you stay with me? For a little bit??? with sugar on top??? And of course she would stay for a minute... LOLshe was so sweet to Liv and she wasn't even our nurse.I definately think this child could do something in that field one day. She was so sweet cause when we left the place was SLAMMED... She kept asking people on our way out ARE YOU ALRIGHT??? WHATSA MATTER??? Is your head POUNDING???LMAO...They would inevitably laugh and she would give em a thumbs up and move onto the next person as I am trying to keep her AWAY from the sickies waiting to get in...So all in all we slept a bit and that is a BIG POSITIVE. Liv is much better. The prednisone helps alot. They give her tablets then I mush the tablets into a popsicle I mushed in a cup.Works wonders. Well WHEEZY is in and wheezing away so off we go. Jeffs' hitting Houston today so wish him luck this is the last hurrah!!! BYE

A big thank you to all who wished John a happy birthday. Like many of you, birthdays are a little bittersweet for me. But this year was not as bad as usual. I was kind of anticipating feeling down and was suprised to find I wasn't this year. John had a great day- We took him bowling for the first time and he just loved it. Tried to throw his ball down the wrong lane a time or two, but hey....I worried the noise and stuff would overwhelm him but he did so great. Also, this is the first year he really got excited about the idea of birthday- presents, cake the whole nine yards. We did not have a party other than us- mom dad brother and sisters. That was just right. He has really bloomed this year. Can't imagine what next year will bring.
On another note I went to my first parent support meeting since moving here 18 months ago. I found it quiet nice, only a couple of ladies there today. they meet every week so some weeks there are more people than others. The other ladies had children much older than mine and with various disabilities but it was good to find out what is happening in our county regarding services. That is the main reason I have decided to start going so I can inform myself as to the options out there for John in the coming years. I am not terribly outgoing, so just going to the meeting is a real accomplishment for me.
It was kind of fate anyhow since the subject was stress and how to deal- I have been very down the past week or two and just talking with the group made me feel better.
