Hey! Glad to see that Uno is back up and running. I try to get online once a week now to post, but we have been busy round town and swimming. I really miss chatting and posting all the time but it seems that the internet was just a place to run and hide before. We are all doing great and enjoyig the summertime 2gether. Mazie went in for her Echo yesterday. And they said she looks great. And that we don't have to bring her back in for a year and a half. YIPEE!!!! Hope all is well with you all. Michelle..I know you have ben hearing it alot......but without you and the work you do, we wouldnt have this place, our second family.And I promise to NOT stop working to find this scum ball until he is behind bars for the child porn and the other various, numerous illegal things he has done. I am not allowing my email ady to be shown (you can click it off when you want to ADD to the mb) because much to my dismay that peepeeboy has us up and running on his site also and I dont think the world of trash should have our email addies. I do know quite alot about this sicko so he seems to be not as smart as he thinks whcih makes it better for us. Ok,.... on to more important things then a sick member of society. chicago was great!!!!! Everyone was wonderful and ladies night out wa fantastic!!! I hadn't checked the website for about a week and a half, and of course when I tried, I couldn't get on. I am absolutely amazed by your skill, Michelle. You are a genious for doing what you did. You deserve a medal and I send one via hyber space to you!!!!! I have tried over the last couple of weeks to get on, and haven't been able to; it was only yesterday that Michelle's post appeared about the trouble, and how she had to close the website down. My congratulations are with you Michelle, you are an amazing person, to handle all the stress and trauma that went with this. I know I could'nt have done it. You are very brave and deserve a reward of some kind. I wish I could send you some flowers for the trauma you've had to endure - maybe some cyber hugs will help (((HUGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY)))!!!!! Michelle, you do a fantastic job, and I don't think anyone really realized this until this trouble started. Congratulations on a job well done, and I only hope that the perps are caught and punished severely.(I didn't actually see anything, but going by what I've read, I can only surmise it wasn't pleasant at all!).. I love this web site, and it has helped me more than anyone will ever know.. Even though I don't post every day like some, maybe once a week, I can relate to your stories and maybe look to the future about particular events. I thank everyone for posting. This has been the most rewarding thing about having a child with a disability..that we can actually talk about our problems, our achievements, our hurdles etc... Thanks again Michelle for keeping us connected, for going to all the trouble to keep the site going even when it's tough, and for having the vision to create a web site that anyone can join without an invitation. I know we are blessed to have members who found us who may never have located a site that required an invitation. This is just ONE of the wonderful things about Uno Mas! ~ The Chicago get together was such fun! I really enjoyed getting to know everyone, and spending time with all the children. It isn't possible to say what I enjoyed most........but Ladies night out is right up at the top! VICKI, I'm so glad your family surprised us by coming! Your little guy is just precious....as well as all his siblings! Keep posting so we can watch him grow up! I know I'd miss someone if I tried to say something about every single family, but I gotta say that RUSSELL melted my heart! What a sweet kid he is.....I took several pictures of him, and they bring such a smile to my face! The only negative thing about the Chicago trip was that it was over WAY too soon! Seemed like we barely got there and it was time to pack up to leave! I do hope that EVERYONE will try to make it to Dayton. ~ Emily leaves for camp on Sunday for a week. I can't believe that you have to go through all this!!! As for people asking why it wasn't shut down earlier- well, it is always easy to critisize, isn't it?! I really dont know much about you but i do understand you run unomas21... My days have been lost without it, i did not realize how much i depended on ALL of you for support.. It has been very hard having a new baby with ds and you guys all understand... Hopefully the situation will be straightened out.... I am so sorry you had to deal with this! Leave it to random people to mess up a good thing! I am sure it will be straightened out soon, but in the meantime, what a mess! I had to miss out on the Chicago trip - I didn;t have anyone's e-mail and it was going to be a squeeze with moving and I though I would just jump on here and get the info, but everythign was shut down. Thank you so much for your hard work. I am so happy that Uno Mas is still alive and we can talk about our kids again. These days I have found myself depended on this site. It is been my livesaver for more than 3 years. Even if I do not post, I want to see how every one is doing and be sure that all are fine. All people here are like family to me and I am always happy for the good things happened to them or I am very sad if something bad involed and pray if they need it. I hope they do the same for me. LOL Unfortunatly, there are some people who wanted distroy our family, and I am glad that they DID NOT. Thank you, Michelle, for doing this for us. Alice P.S. I've been trying to look at and collect the many leads that people have emailed to me about the people responsible for vandalazing our site. I appreciate all your hard work, you guys. I think it will be a big help. It's pretty disheartening and downright depressing to see the sense of joy these people get from bragging about their "victory." It's a game. They get satisfaction from causing havoc. They sure did that. Even though I knew that was their ultimate goal, I had to shut down the site. Not only because everyone was in an uproar, but also the fact that this happening again made me want to crawl into a hole and (I don't know what ... Cry? Disappear?) Reading that guy's bragging about shutting down the site, reminded me of reading the joyous and victorious post "UNO's DEAD!" a few years ago. It still perplexes and depresses me that anyone gets satisfaction from ruining a good thing. I do believe Uno Mas is a good thing. You guys keep reminding me of that and I promise to get the site back up and do my best to find out who those creeps are. If I can't make the site more secure, then I will give more adminstrative powers to some of our moderators. Maybe even power to shut down the site. But please understand that it's difficult for me to do that. Last week, I got a few offers from people volunteering to help monitor the website. I'd never heard of them before ... and upon a closer look ... they had ip addresses similiar to the people posting the vulgar messages. I don't want to be parnoid, but I'm trying to be careful. Well, the message board is working. Most other parts of the site are not. For now all posts will be reviewed for appropriateness, before they are approved to be displayed. Obviously, that's a lot of work, so that can't be how this site operates in the future. Still trying to figure it out. Thanks for all the kind words and support! Michelle Mc | ||

I have not posted lately but I do read almost daily. I was e-mailed and informed about what was happening. I am saddeded. I can only hope that anyone who hears about this will teach their child about respect for each and every human being. My parents taught me to love and respect each person no matter how different. I hope I can instill that in my children. Perhaps that is the reason why we have all been so blessed with our children...because we know the value of each and every human being. I feel sorry for who ever decided this would be entertainment. May God forgive you. Let me add my sorrow at how things have been here as of late. I have no words to tell you of how much I appreciate having a place to come to where the people really "get it". Since the day I came upon this website, it has been a MUST to check in several times a day. In the last year, I have not had as much access as I would like, but I have kept up pretty well. My congratulations on a job superbly done. P.S. As difficult as I can only imagine it is, please try not to let the angry comments rattle you too much. Being afraid for your family's safety and security is a very powerful motivator. | ||

Reading your post made me sick to my stomach - I am sooo sorry that you were made to feel bad about all of this. I can't even imagine how much goes into creating, maintaining and monotoring a site such as UNO. I have been coming here for a little over 3 years now and UNO has gotten Chris and I thru some pretty ruff times along with speical freindships made. It is unblievable to me that a person can come in here and just destroy it 1 2 3 :-( I hope as you, that keeping some of the posts that this creep can be caught and punished. I'm getting a lot of angry emails about this situation and I'm feeling a little defensive. Many people are outraged that the site was not shut down "immediately." I'm the only person with the authority to do that, and I was unavailable for two days. Replacing the homepage is possible to do quickly. However, actually disabling a domain takes 24 - 48 hours. I have no control over how quickly that process happens. I could have deleted the entire site, and I actually requested our webhost to do so late last night. They advised me against it, and said my access to files would be completely lost. Anyone who thinks an interactive website can be restored with the click of a button is terribly wrong. I've restored this site twice and, considering the circumstances, I was not sure I would have the motivation to go through that again. I have contacted my local police department asking for their help in tracking down the people responsible for the misuse of this website. There is no question in my mind that this is a criminal act. It has caused many people a great deal of grief and anger. Including me. I know everyone wants to spare people the pain of being exposed to that filth and I really appreciate your concern. I'm actually glad that moderators and Proboards did not delete the entire BB, however, because the ip addresses and time/date stamps on the remaining posts will help us track down these creeps. I have not figured out how I'm going protect Uno Mas from having this happen again. I am going to have to give this some serious thought. I was only away from my computer for two days! Sunday, when I was hosting Father's Day for 35 people and Monday when my internet access was down. It's hard to believe that someone could cause so much destruction to our site and our feelings in such a short time. I can't understand why they would want to. I am disgusted and saddened, just as all of you are. Over the past 5 years, to my disappointment, I've had to add increasing levels of security to protect this site from mean people. I've had a lot of wonderful volunteers help me monitor the site. This is the first time that the maliciousness has reached a level that required the site to be completely shut down immediately. The moderators began to realize that deleting posts would also delete evidence needed to find the people responsible. When the unomas21.com domain does finally go offline, I will try to privately email people an alternate way to access the site. Please only share this information with well-known Uno Mas friends in order to protect our site from these wierdos. Michelle | ||

For your information, I saw your question down below. I guess you missed my post or it got deleted but YES it IS concerned child porn. That is why my DH got involved and got that server shut down, because that is HIS department. Because he took pictures of our kids and put pornographic sayings on them and the kids are under age it IS child porn. He also had conversations with young children on his server, so this guy is definitely in serious trouble. Just thought I'd let you know that. | ||

The story there is that when DH traced his IP address he got all the info he needed. He contacted the internet provider. He contacted the local law enforcement, and he demanded that he be shut down. The very next morning the lady called back and said he would be shut down within the next couple of days. An hour later he was shut down. So he was shut down yesterday and it still isn't there. That fist slideshow that was posted from 'KatiesMom' is still there, I'm not sure if that was the same guy or not, I'd have to look again. Although BEFORE they shut him down he had taken off all of the pictures he stole from our site, I think so they couldn't prove anything. He also took down the page he posted of pictures. Just so you know, I don't know if that helps or not but I thought it might and I would try..... | ||

Connie, Robin, myself and of course some others including Michelle have been working on this yesterday & today. I've personally called NDSS & we're waiting action from their director of media & info services.These punks picked the wrong group this time not figuring we have national clout & legal backing including many congressmen.craig, it's beyone just kids going to a library....it seems to be a hacker flooding the BB possibly thru bot software. (Using others accounts illegally without their knowledge) Basically some free servers that host nasty stuff to begin with. (Obviously that server won't shut them down)However once they've taken pics off our site they make it a federal offense.Anyone with any connections in law enforcement, ISP's or software needs to contact one of our admin's & help us team up on this.Also, we need to pull all our vital info from our profiles asap. I have gathered from the posts what is happening on the BB. I have to apologize as well, because my name is on there as a moderator, but unfortunately, I haven't yet moderated anything. I had volunteered to do it, then as life got hectic here, I never pursued it. I hope that whoever is in charge will inform us if our precious child was one who was used in a photo. I am sick to my stomach thinking about it, but need to know if that happened. Absolutely... they should be shut down until they can be fixed... protecting the children & families is #1 priority.
