MOST PEOPLE HAVE 46 CHROMOSOMES ![]() Most folks have pairs of 23 different chromosomes. One set from your Mom; One set from your Dad. Let's do some simple math: 23 chromosomes from Mom 23 chromosomes from Dad _________________ = 46 Chromosomes People with Down Syndrome somehow ended up with one extra #21 chromosome! (+ ONE MORE, or uh, "uno mas"... Why, why? We're not sure Why?) + 1 _________________ 47 Chromosomes. Strange but true! And wildly unique, don't you think? How 'bout a little graphic to illustrate?
