Can you send me information for my report?
Unfortunately, I'm not much of an expert on Down Syndrome. I'm
really just a mom who happens to know how to make websites. This
site is designed to provide several ways for parents to exchange information,
advice and stories about Down Syndrome.
I have a page on this site, that defines the conditon in the simpliest
of terms. You might want to start there as a very basic overview
of Down Syndrome: See Quick Course.
You are welcome to print this page for your report, as a preview to
more detailed information.
I think you'll
be surprised how many people are more than happy to help answer your
questions on the message board and
the bulletin board ... the more
specific your question, the better likelihood you'll get a really useful
answer. If you vaguely ask for "info for your report,"
... it will interpreted that you don't feel like making the effort to
do your own research. Ask people exactly what you need that
the textbooks don't explain, and I'm sure parents will do all they can
to help!
This site is about
personal experience and support, not really a "encyclodpedia"
of information about Down syndrome. You aren't going to
find a pre-fab report about Trisomy 21 on this site.
A good source of information can be found on Dr. Len Leshin's Site.
He has compiled a list of resources for students doing research for
a report about Down Syndrome: See: Doing
a High School or College Report on Down Syndrome?
